Training with qualifications: Higher Education (Levels 4 - 7)
The BA (Hons) in Theology, Ministry and Mission on the CMS Pioneer Mission Leadership Training prorgramme can be completed as a full degree (part-time); or a Certificate of Higher Education (six modules completed over one – two years); or the Diploma in Higher Education (12 modules over two (or three) years);
Some modules include practical weekends where you will visit different mission contexts and learn from them.
The certificate is accredited by Durham University through a partnership with Ripon College Cuddesdon.
There are three ways of completing the programme, each of which create a series of modules relevant for pioneer ministry, pioneer youth ministry or pioneer children and family work.
The BA (Hons) Professional Practice, Contextual Ministry and Practical Theology delivered by MCYM in Nottingham provides a flexible qualification for those wishing to train in mission and ministry in a range of contexts. Study three years full time or up to six years part time. Combining interactive and creative teaching days with challenge and inspiring practical work in a ministry context, the course is designed to support your growth and development in all areas of your life and ministry. Live where you are doing your ministry and travel to Nottingham for two days a fortnight in term time. We can help you find a suitable practice agency for you. Students can specialise in a chosen area, particularly chaplaincy or children and family work. This course is eligible for student loans.
Three year full-time or part-time equivalent degree course validated by Staffordshire University and incorporating professional validation (JNC) through the NYA (in England) or NSETS (in Ireland); combining term time teaching days at the regional centre (one day weekly in Ireland - Youthlink NI Belfast; two days fortnightly Midlands - St John’s Nottingham) and learning in a professional practice agency (a church or faith based organisation). Each student has a practice tutor to work one to one with them to complete their practice portfolio and gain their professional qualification. We can help you find a suitable practice agency where you would be based and engaged in youth work weekly. You also have the opportunity to complete two shorter placements in contrasting settings to broaden your experience and enhance your employment potential. Eligible for student loans.
A blended learning, three year part-time course in chaplaincy with children and young people for potential, new and experienced chaplains. This is taught in partnership with the Centre for Chaplaincy with Children and Young People based at St Johns College Nottingham. This course includes two four day study blocks each year for the first two years. The course draws on a range of experienced chaplains to deliver and support students including core CYM staff. This course is eligible for a postgraduate student loan.
The MA in Professional Practice and Practical Theology offers experienced workers and graduate entrants to professional ministry roles a qualification that will help sharpen their theological understanding and enhance their practice. Developed in consultation with CYM graduates, employers and practice specialists this postgraduate qualification offers the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills required for contemporary Christian work with children and families, youth ministry and other ministry and mission contexts. The course takes three years part time and includes two four day study blocks a year in the first two years. This course is eligible for a postgraduate student loan.
