Full and part-time courses for general youth & community workers. Optional pathway in a practice-based setting. These include faith settings, sports coaching settings, schools or other educational settings and advice or counselling settings. Newman offers you the opportunity to gain the knowledge and experience of the policies, best practice and skills required to develop yourself both personally and professionally. The course is taught by a team of experienced and enthusiastic tutors that have an excellent reputation for supporting students and established strong partnerships with local employers. You will also benefit from mixing with students from a variety of backgrounds and prior learning experiences.
In your role as a Chaplain it is essential to develop one’s skills and understanding to provide high quality pastoral and spiritual care in the setting in which you work. This part time, work-based course is primarily aimed at those working in Chaplaincy contexts, particularly, though not exclusively, with young people. We offer a professional development qualification drawing on multi-disciplinary approaches to working with people, as well as offering a further grounding in both the pastoral and theological aspects of their Chaplaincy role.
Our partners include Birmingham Archdiocese Diocesan Educational Services (DES) and the Diocesan Youth Service, who run a network of Chaplains in schools. Newman continues to make additional links with other networks including Muslim Chaplains, Prison Chaplains, Hospital Chaplains, University Chaplains and Chaplains in other diverse areas.
