Information regarding CYM HE courses as of September 2024
The CYM Board of Trustees have taken the difficult decision to suspend all new recruitment to Higher Education courses delivered by CYM in partnership with Birmingham Newman University.
This decision has been taken to allow CYM to review its Higher Education provision in response to a persistent fall in applications for Higher Education courses that is a pattern being reflected across the children, youth and mission related courses in the Higher Education sector.
A critical threshold of students is needed to provide a meaningful learning community and to ensure that students receive a high quality Higher Education experience. As we did not meet this threshold by 1st July we have taken the decision to suspend recruitment to all CYM courses. Any students holding offers to commence a course with us in September 2024 have been informed of this decision and have been offered support to find alternative courses.
We would like to be clear that this does not affect the continuation and progression for current students and that these students will be resuming studies in September 2024 as planned. CYM are committed to enabling all current students to complete their qualifications and our staff team will continue to provide a full programme of teaching and support services.
CYM also remain committed to our wider research, training and consultancy programmes. We are currently engaged in a range of important developments for the sector, including the ‘Taking the Pulse’ research programme; ‘Your Faith: Your Online World’ digital guidance resources; and self-guided online courses on themes that equip the church for ministry and mission.
We will be making further announcements about research, training and consultancy opportunities while we review the future of our Higher Education delivery.
