Training with qualifications: Higher Education (Levels 4 - 7)
Our Seminary course is a rounded theological and ministry training curriculum that has been specifically tailored for those involved in Children’s and Youth ministry. It aims to give you a good understanding of key biblical and theological concepts, and their pastoral and missional implications, with a particular application to help you reach and support families, youth and children with the transforming truth of the gospel in all of life. Children’s and Youth ministry track will follow a similar pattern of modules as that of the main Crosslands Seminary programme. Every module will include exercises, assignment choices, and tutorials that have been specifically designed for those involved in working with Children and Young People. CYM students will be tutored through the programme by CYM specialists.

The flexible suite of Practical Theology courses are designed to equip students through a range of practice, theology and ministry modules where learning in context is an essential element to student development. Full time students attend college at our new teaching centre in Leicester two days per fortnight and spend the rest of the time in relevant practice agency. The usual pattern is three years full time or up to six years part time.
Specialist pathways include Youth and Community Work (JNC), Children and Family Work, Chaplaincy and Contextual Ministry which allows for a range of other community based ministries. New for 2020 is the possibility of living and serving as part of the Community of the Tree of Life in Leicester as your learning context. We can help you find a suitable practice agency or explore the possibility with you of using your current context as part of your specialist pathway.
The part time MA is designed to fit alongside your current work or ministry giving you the chance to develop personally and professionally in your new or existing work with children and young people in community. Usually completed in three years students attend study blocks in Leicester and Birmingham then fit private study alongside your other commitments.
Specialist pathways include Youth and Community Work, Ministry with Children, Young People and Families, Chaplaincy and Community Ministry with a range of core and optional modules to adapt your learning to meet your needs and interests. At the heart of all courses is are practical theology modules in community and social context and a third year research project to focus your interests.
Exit pathways are also available after one or two years, including a PG Certificate in Chaplaincy with Children and Young People which meets the requirements of the UK Board of Healthcare Chaplaincy, and the JNC validated PG Diploma in Youth and Community Work and Practical Theology (exact award titles subject to validation).
acet UK’s comprehensive Esteem relationships and sex education (RSE) training course equips participants to deliver relationships and sex education to young people and can be completed with or without accreditation. The course is 24 hours of teaching time: working online, we split this across 6 days.
This training is open to anyone with an interest in RSE: our network of trained educators work in a variety of fields. It equips educators to provide up-to-date RSE in line with the 2019 government guidance on relationships, sex and health education and the Children and Social Work Act 2017,
Working with the Open College Network, acet UK can provide trainees on the course with the opportunity to achieve a level 4 accreditation in ‘Teaching relationships and sex education’.
The standard £275 training fee includes each participant’s first-year membership of the Esteem network and specifically, for the online course, we will post you a package of physical RSE resources to use during the video training. Being a member of the network licenses you to access the core digital Esteem materials, including lesson plans, activities and other teaching resources.

The course combines theological and biblical study with a mission emphasis and practical youth work experience. You will gain an understanding of Christian missional theology and explore the foundations of Christian belief, practice and missional ministry within your chosen training context/work-based learning. Throughout the degree you will undertake study at your local Campus, whilst engaging in a range of work-based learning activities, designed to develop your skills in youth mission and ministry.
